EcoCAR 2 would like to announce the winner of the “Best Website Award” for Year One! Penn State University took home first place in this category, which was judged during the 2012 Winter Workshop in Austin, Texas.
Penn State’s website features a well-designed and expertly-formatted layout. The site highlights many program features, including team member bios, an informative blog and in-depth descriptions of vehicle architectures and alternative fuels. Judges said that they particularly enjoyed the team’s EcoKIDS section, which features activity pages, EcoJOKES, sustainable resources and more. Judges also liked the alumni section, which includes clear links back to AVTC alumni resources and testimonials from competition alumni dating back to ChallengeX.
The team also filmed an introduction video, which can be viewed on their homepage and on YouTube. One judged commented that their video “highlighted the importance of the AVTC program and was an exciting video to watch!”
Virginia Tech came in a close second place, followed by the University of Waterloo in third. Both runners up featured key aspects of the website deliverable, including team and university information, media highlights, a dedicated sponsors page, vehicle architectures descriptions and more.
Please join us in congratulating Penn State on their victory in the “Best Website” category! Check out their website at www.hev.psu.edu!
