EcoCAR 2 and the Colorado State University (CSU) Vehicle Innovation Team (VIT) are fortunate to have many generous sponsors. For Year Three, the VIT chose to highlight one of its sponsors, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), through a collaboration video.
CARB’s work is instrumental in maintaining and improving air quality nationwide. One of its main goals is to reduce emissions from transportation. Wile other EcoCAR 2 sponsors offer hardware for the teams, CARB provides support as a state regulatory body with national influence.
CARB support for the VIT comes in the form of funding, advice, research assistance and motivation. The VIT is the only team participating in the EcoCAR 2 competition that is designing a zero emission vehicle (ZEV) – a fuel cell plug-in hybrid electric vehicle that is powered by hydrogen – and CARB has been crucial in connecting the VIT with the resources required to realize their unique design.
Elise Keddie, Zero Emissions Vehicle Implementation Manager for CARB, explains that the organization is a strong supporter of the EcoCAR 2 competition and its goals. “We have a soft spot in our heart for the CSU team because of their vehicle architecture,” she said.
The CSU VIT is grateful to have support from CARB as it continues to speed its way into final competition – leaving zero emissions along the way!
