Corvette’s Doug Fehan Talks Green Racing

The EcoCAR Winter Workshop has officially kicked off and the students are making their way to the Speedway!

The teams have a full day of events scheduled for tomorrow, but they are in for a real treat tomorrow night. Corvette Racing’s program manager, Doug Fehan, will be giving a presentation on General Motor’s green racing intiatives. Speed and green vehicle technology – two things that are close to the hearts’ of the EcoCAR students – so they are very excited to hear what Doug has to say.

Doug will talk to the EcoCAR students about Corvette Racing and its association with E85 and the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge. He will also touch upon the use of E85 in Corvette’s race car, C6.R, aerodynamic advancements, ceramic wheel bearings, zero viscosity lubricants and working with Michelin on rolling resistance in tires.

As part of the EcoCAR Challenge, the participating teams must meet industry performance standards, which includes speed, so Doug’s presentation will teach them some new tricks and tweaks to help make their vehicles more powerful.

We will report on what the teams learned from Doug’s presentation on Friday morning, so check back in later this week!
