The CSULA EcoCAR 2 team traveled to Anaheim, CA earlier this year to attend SAE International’s Hybrid & Electric Vehicle (HEV) Technologies Symposium. The business and communications team had the opportunity to set up shop alongside leading exhibitors during the entire event, displaying a table top booth equipped with EcoCAR 2 swag and a laptop that continuously showed pictures of the team’s Flickr feed. Team members networked with major industry leaders and talked with innovative companies about their technical and outreach goals and the key messages of EcoCAR 2. A previous campus visit from SAE President and Argonne National Laboratory Energy Systems Division Director Donald Hillebrand gave the team plenty to discuss at the event.
The symposium featured an array of engaging technical sessions, panels, supplier discussions and networking events covering the latest industry developments and technologies. Attendees gained first-hand knowledge from leaders in the industry on topics ranging from energy storage and battery technology to plug-in technology and fuel cells. Others got to network with leading professionals through panel discussions and in-depth technical sessions. The event is designed to give attendees the information they need in a complex industry.
Twenty-eight industry-leading companies were in attendance for this event as well as EcoCAR 2 sponsors General Motors, U.S. Department of Energy, Magna and AVL Powertrain Engineering. Speakers included Dr. Dan Sperling from Fuel Cell Partnership, Jeffrey Gonder from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and EVATRAN’s VP of Technology and Product Development, Brian Normann.
