EcoCAR 2 Comes to Circuit of the Americas

Car Racing: it’s not just for car enthusiasts. The sport has grabbed hold of the world as one of the most watched events on television.  Not only is the speed and danger of the sport exciting and compelling, the racing industry has brought forth technologies and innovations that have made their way into everyday production vehicles over the years – aerodynamics, rear view mirrors, seat belts, and crumple zones to name a few.

Enthusiasm for car racing has now taken over Texas.  Austin is now home to the new Circuit of the Americas track, which was purpose built for the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix.

Located 15 miles from downtown Austin, the $400 million sports and entertainment venue received rave reviews in November from the hundreds of thousands of fans who traveled the world to witness Formula 1’s return to the United States.

This world-class facility features a 3.4-mile, 20-turn circuit with an elevation change of 133 feet, as well as a 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Media and Technology Center.

We are very excited to announce that EcoCAR 2 will be traveling to Circuit of the Americas during the upcoming Winter Workshop in January. Workshop participants will get a front row seat to tour the facility, while also participating in dynamic demonstrations of upcoming EcoCAR competition events such as AVL DRIVE Quality, Emissions and Energy Consumption and Braking and Acceleration.
