And the EcoCAR competition winner is…Virginia Tech! Today in DC, students from Virginia Tech proved that three years of hard work and dedication does pay off when they were named the Year Three competition winner after designing and building an exceptional extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) using E85 (ethanol). The Virginia Tech students worked tirelessly in their Green Garage to achieve this tremendous honor. Congratulations are also due to second-place winner, The Ohio State University, and third-place winner, the University of Waterloo.
The culmination of EcoCAR is bittersweet, with many EcoCAR students moving on to full-time positions in the automotive industry, but we look forward to hearing about their plans for the future and hitting the ground running with the next Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition, EcoCAR 2: Plugging In to the Future!
