Over the last year, EcoCAR teams have been pouring their “blood, sweat and tears” into developing prototype advanced technology vehicles that will compete in more than a dozen technical events at this year’s competition finals. In less than ten weeks, 17 teams from across North America will compete in the 2010 EcoCAR Challenge from May 17-27, 2010 in Yuma, Arizona and San Diego, CA. The culmination of the competition is an awards ceremony where more than forty awards and $100,000 in cash prize money will be announced. This year’s awards ceremony in San Diego will be held at one of the coolest places in town. Can you guess where? Here are a few hints about the venue:
- Home to the famous Bead Wall – an entire wall covered in Mardi Gras beads from New Orleans
- Displays the “Crazy Quilt”
- Houses a metal box of mud from the Delta Mississippi
- Decorated with impressive artwork made from products like plywood, mud and molasses
The EcoCAR Year Two Finals awards ceremony will be held at the House of Blues San Diego on Thursday, May 27. The House of Blues is dedicated to educating and celebrating the history of Southern Culture and African American artistic contributions to music and art.
We can’t wait to see you there in a few months!
