Electric Vehicle Awareness Week at NCSU

The EcoCAR 2 team at NCSU took part in a local event called Electric Vehicle Awareness Week, hosted by Advanced Energy, from October 1- October 6. This week-long event began on Monday October 1, with a tribute to electric vehicles from a panel of local EV owners who answered questions and shared their experiences with their electric vehicles. There were also many city officials and delegates from the Triangle who shared their initiatives regarding electric vehicles and sustainability. The EcoCAR 2 team put together a presentation to share with the group and answered questions about the competition.

All the water bottles were gone by the end!

On Friday, October 5 the team geared up for First Friday (an event with music and fun that is held the first Friday of every month in Downtown Raleigh). The EcoCAR 2 vehicle was brought to Marbles Museum for the public to see, and a great crowd of interested community members came out to learn about the competition. Advanced Energy representatives even quizzed people on electric vehicle facts (i.e. “How often does the oil need to be changed in an electric vehicle?”). The NCSU team mostly showed off the vehicle’s trunk and engine.  Since the team was taking the engine out of the Malibu the following day, it really prompted some great conversations with the event attendees!
