After months of planning, the final Fall Workshop of EcoCAR 2 has finally come to a close.

Over the five day workshop hosted by MathWorks at their Natick, MA headquarters, teams participated in multi-track training featuring competition sponsors General Motors, MathWorks, dSPACE, A123 Systems, Freescale, AVL Powertrain Engineering, Magna Powertrain, Siemens, Vector, GKN Driveline and more.

During the workshop, teams received an update on the Year Three competition rules and deliverables, and learned more about upcoming EcoCAR 2 events, including the spring Emissions Testing Event in March at the Transportation Research Center.

“The Year Three Fall Workshop is meant to inform and educate students about the competition rules and deliverables, as well as the sponsor-donated hardware, software, and tools,” said Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions Director Kristen De La Rosa. “It also provides an invaluable opportunity to communicate and collaborate with other EcoCAR 2 teams and organizers for the first time.”

In addition to the technical training sessions, communications and business managers each had their own dedicated tracks in which they learned about their deliverables for the year. The communications managers participated in media relations and video production training, while the business managers focused on training involving project management and presentation skills hosted by EarthPM.

Teams also had the opportunity to attend various special events throughout the workshop, including a Sponsor Social Networking and Recruiting event that featured more than 15 competition-level sponsors. Students were able to network and connect with sponsors who were seeking full-time or internship positions in their company. EcoCAR 2 teams were also able to experience true Boston by attending an evening dinner at Cheers – Faneuil Hall, which was hosted by MathWorks.

EcoCAR would like to thank everyone for coming to Boston and a special thank you to MathWorks for hosting such a wonderful event!
