A Guide to Homecoming: Arizona State Style

Byline: Ashley Yost, Communications Manager for the Arizona State University EcoCAR 3 team

The Arizona State University (ASU) Sun Devils showed off their spirit, pride and tradition on earlier this month with ASU’s Homecoming: Written in the Sparks.

Homecoming at ASU has been a long-lasting tradition. From football games to crowning royalty, these traditions carry on a legacy. This year’s list of events included a week’s worth of activities taking place at the four major ASU campuses which included City of Lights Dance, Sparky’s Run and Big Top Carnival, Devil’s Royale, the Lantern Walk, and of course Sun Devil Homecoming!

Camaro showcased in the ASU Homecoming Parade to represent EcoCAR 3

Since there were endless amounts of activities to participate in, ASU’s EcoCAR 3 team decided to put together a guide to Homecoming: Arizona State Style.

  1. Participate in the parade: The ASU EcoCAR 3 team made a few sparks by having a sleek Camaro riding along with walking members of their team in the Homecoming Parade. This eye-catching piece made a statement throughout the crowd of alumni, students, faculty, and families with children from around the Valley. Following Homecoming Royalty never looked so good!
  1. Host a booth at the block party: The ASU team was at the Homecoming Block Party, showcasing a Camaro to draw attention. The team shared information on everything they plan to work toward over the next few years.
  1. Celebrate a winning football game: What better way to end Homecoming than with a winning football game! The ASU EcoCAR 3 team cheered on their Sun Devils to victory in overtime with a final score of 19-16, giving them sole possession of the Pac-12 South Division. Way to go, Devils!

The ASU EcoCAR 3 team will be hosting and participating in many more events in the future in hopes to spread awareness of the EcoCAR 3 mission.
