On March 30, 2015 McMaster Engineering EcoCAR 3 took a trip to St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School’s auto technology class to teach young Hamiltonians about topics relating to EcoCAR 3.
The team worked together to present various topics to both Grade 10 and 11 auto tech students. Throughout the morning students remained engaged in the presentation and very curious about the EcoCAR 3 competition.
McMaster’s EcoCAR 3 team discussed topics like current state of the automotive industry, vehicle efficiency and electrification, opportunities for students through AVTC competitions, and engineering and technology programs open to students of McMaster University. This outreach event was the team’s first venture into local classrooms in the Hamilton community to try and spread awareness about the EcoCAR3 competition as well as reinforce the team’s vision for eco-friendly automotive technology. The presentation was concluded with handing out McMaster Engineering EcoCAR 3 branded swag as well as a question and answer period.
Our team would like to thank Mr. Joe Evangelista and his students for welcoming us into their classroom. We sincerely hope to see some of the students’ smiling faces on McMaster’s future AVTC teams!
