The parade is a longstanding tradition, where a portion of the city’s boulevards are shut down to make way for an outstanding lineup of parade floats and crowds of excited onlookers. Despite bitterly cold weather, community members came out in the thousands to view the pageantry and to catch a much-coveted glimpse of jolly ol’ Saint Nicholas himself.
McMaster Engineering was right in the middle of the action, proudly leading the McMaster delegation in the parade. Between shelling out candy canes and waving at parade-goers, team members had the opportunity to speak with community members about EcoCAR 3, Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions, and McMaster University’s involvement in the competition. Amongst the paraders and crowds, the team stood out as beacons of McMaster student innovation and ambassadors of advanced vehicle technology. Accompanying the team in the parade was a beautiful 2015 Camaro RS generously loaned by John Bear Hamilton; the Camaro’s beautiful ‘Red Rock Metallic’ paintwork outshining everything in parade except Santa’s sleigh.
The Hamilton Santa Claus parade was the first opportunity that McMaster Engineering had to connect with the Hamilton community to spread awareness about the EcoCAR 3 project and its vision for eco-friendly automotive technology. The team would like to thank parade organizers, John Bear Hamilton for the Camaro, and everyone who braved the cold to come and view the parade. Here’s to a wonderful and safe holiday season for all!
