Meet Torie Hawn, Colorado State’s EcoCAR 3 Communications Manager

Torie Hawn is one of CSU’s communications managers. Hawn became involved in EcoCAR at the end of her freshman year when former communications manager, Emily Keats, spoke to her class. Hawn was instantly drawn to EcoCAR because it combined the interests of her major and minor – communication and sustainability.

Torie Hawn is a third-year Journalism and Technical Communications (JTC) Major and a Global Environmental Sustainability (GES) Minor at Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, Colorado.  This is her second year participating in communications for EcoCAR, and she just recently became co-communications manager in January 2015. In addition to her education and working on CSU EcoCAR 3, Hawn works as the project coordinator for the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative (GSBI) and a communications manager for the Colorado State branch of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC).  When she graduates, Hawn plans to use her GES minor in combination with her JTC major to spread awareness and provide solutions for the many environmental sustainability issues that the world faces.

Outside of EcoCAR 3, Hawn enjoys hiking (especially in the Rocky Mountains) and loves the outdoor opportunities that Fort Collins and Colorado provide. She also enjoys photography, spending time with her friends and boyfriend, and enjoying the company of her basset hound.
