The University of Alabama is working toward becoming an eco-friendly campus one step at a time. With the new participation in the EcoCAR 3 competition, environmentally friendly approaches to simple, everyday routines are increasing throughout campus.
One way The University of Alabama is trying to make a difference is by providing recycling bins throughout campus. Although not a new effort, it is continuously helping sustain a clean and safe environment for students, faculty and staff.
These recycling bins are located at bus stops, outside of classrooms and in dining halls, to name a few locations. With bins for plastic and paper, The University of Alabama is helping send certain products to their respective and proper means of disposal or reuse. This is just one small step The University of Alabama can take to help improve the quality of life for the entire community.
Recently, The University of Alabama has been selected as one of 16 schools to participate in the EcoCAR 3 competition. Add the EcoCAR 3 competition to the recycling efforts and you have a campus and university that is on the way to helping the environment and making the community a better place for those who live and work in the area or nearby.
Looking to be more environmentally friendly in your community, try these small steps that can go a long way:
- Recycle or dispose of trash properly.
- Pick up trash you see lying on the ground.
- Save plastic bags from the store for reuse or recycle them.
- Refill plastic water bottles or by a reusable one from a store.
- Carpool to produce less harmful emissions.
