The University of Tennessee EcoCAR 3 team stimulates a culture that values sustainable vehicles through innovating engineering and applied research. We create a forward-thinking workforce through multi-disciplinary collaboration and a hands-on learning environment. Our vision is to advance our nation – with each turn of the wheel – towards clean air, absolute energy security, and a position as the global leader in sustainable energy vehicle technologies.
The University of Tennessee EcoCAR 3 team follows the university’s participation in fifteen Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions (AVTCs) since Argonne National Laboratory began collegiate AVTCs in 1989. UT's participation in EcoCAR 3 embraces the advanced vehicle technology interests in hybrid and electric vehicles, alternative fuel vehicles, and the overall alternative energy culture that engages the East Tennessee region. UT EcoCAR 3 is able to offer a hands-on experience to positively impact the community throughout the final year of the four-year competition.
EcoCAR3 UT strives to give students a competitive opportunity to design, construct and test advanced vehicle technology innovations while working with researchers, industry leaders, and community organizers to continue to advance advanced vehicle technology interests in the East Tennessee region.
