The University of Waterloo Alternative Fuels Team (UWAFT) recently had the opportunity to showcase its EcoCAR and a Chevrolet Volt in Waterloo Town Square.
The team weathered a few rain showers to bring a positive message to the citizens of Uptown Waterloo and big media took notice. Reporters from The Toronto Star and CTV News stopped by the event to catch a glimpse of the future of the automotive industry. By collaborating with General Motors to show off the Volt and UWAFT’s EcoCAR, the students from Waterloo helped to explain how the evolution of the automobile could lead to zero-emission vehicles in the future.
Consumers were pleasantly surprised to learn about the advancement of energy storage technology in these types of vehicles, and happy to hear that these North American-built, energy-efficient cars were going to be less dependent on fossil fuels from abroad. The onlookers wished the UWAFT team luck in the upcoming EcoCAR Finals, taking pride in knowing that locally-grown engineers are helping to revolutionize the automotive industry.
