Welcome to the 2013 Winter Workshop

EcoCAR 2 will host its Year Two Winter Workshop this week at Freescale’s headquarters in Austin, Texas. Co-sponsored by Freescale and dSPACE, Inc., teams will participate in detailed sessions from competition organizers from General Motors, the U.S. Department of Energy, and Argonne National Laboratory.

“Freescale is proud to be a sponsor of the EcoCAR 2 competition, and we are excited about hosting the EcoCAR 2 second winter workshop at our global headquarters in Austin, Texas,” said Gregg Lowe, President and CEO of Freescale. “We extend a warm Freescale welcome to the participating university students and faculty, as well as the other sponsors and industry representatives supporting this advanced vehicle competition.”

Over the next five days, teams will have the opportunity to take part in training of sponsor-donated components and software tools, as well as present on the team’s Sponsorship Pitch & Display and Year Two Modeling & Simulation activities. When not presenting scored presentations, teams will participate in a local outreach day to middle school students, attend project management and leadership training with EarthPM and competition organizers, and sit in on communication and engineering career panels.

EcoCAR 2 is very excited to take the Winter Workshop on the road this year to the new Circuit of the Americas track, home to the Formula 1™ U.S. Grand Prix. Workshop participants will get a front row seat to tour the facility, while also participating in dynamic vehicle demonstrations including AVL DRIVE Quality and Emissions and Energy Consumption

This year, EcoCAR will host the Sponsor Social Networking and Recruiting Event at the Courtyard Austin Downtown. Winter Workshop co-hosts and sponsors, Freescale and dSPACE, Inc., will also host two evening events including a Welcome Night dinner at Abel’s on the Lake and a Saturday evening event at Maggie Mae’s on historic Sixth Street!
